Wondermaps Review

I have been looking at this product for quite some time now so I was thrilled when Timberdoodle offered me the opportunity to review it. We love history here and so I am constantly looking for maps to print off the internet, which can be quite time consuming and frustrating to find exactly what I need to go along with what we are studying.

Enter Wondermaps from Bright Ideas Press: Problem Solved!

WonderMaps is designed with easy-to-use layers that allow you to enjoy great customizable features with just a click. Select:

  • historical or modern-day maps
  • outline, reference, political, or topographical maps
  • black-and-white or color maps
  • features including: names, borders, rivers, cities, physical features, and graticules

WonderMaps includes:

  • 60+ maps of the world
  • 60+ maps of the USA
  • 125 historical maps, including 25 biblical maps
  • The complete map sets from The Mystery of History vols. I–III and All American History vols. I & II
This year we are learning about Early American History and we were able to easily find and print a map of 13 colonies and then add the modern geographical boundaries. There are over 350 customize-able maps to choose from. Everything you could possible need right at your fingertips.

Here are a few screen shots from the program. You can use color or print in black and white for your child to fill in. Some of the other options include: Physical Features, Cities, Borders, and much more.

Wondermaps is very easy to install and use. Also included on the CD is a Teachers Guide and tutorial, as well as several other bonus features.

I think this could very well be the only map resource that our homeschool will ever need. I love how versatile the program is for a wide range of age groups and studies. This is a great program that I can highly recommend.

You can learn more about Wondermaps at Timberdoodle or Bright Ideas Press. Timberdoodle offers the Wondermaps CD for only $44.95. If you would like to learn more about Timberdoodle and the products they offer, be sure to order their Free Homeschool Catalog. You can also find them on Facebook.

Schoolhouse Student Planner Review

I am so impressed with the Schoolhouse Student Planner High School Edition. It includes everything your student will need to successfully plan and prepare for their high school and college years. It is important to me that my student becomes more independent and responsible for his schooling and these planners are a very useful tool to accomplish that goal.

They are written directly to the student and include a wide variety of forms, calendars, schedules, planners, book logs, and much more! I really appreciated the lists of important information. I have never seen a planner so comprehensive but so flexible. It will work for your student and home school! The forms are completely customizable by typing your information directly into the planner. You can save a copy on your hard drive or print off exactly what you need. No more wasted paper and ink on pages you don’t really need.

A benefit for me, beyond the accountability for my student, is having all the information for transcripts all in one place and easily accessible. I think that this planner would be an incredible asset to anyone who is planning on homeschooling through high school.

I wish it had been available before my older two children graduated from our homeschool. Fortunately, I have three more students who will be able to benefit from these planners. Thanks TOS for making my life a little bit easier.

You can learn more and purchase your own planner here.

They are available in 4 age-appropriate levels.

Primary Planner—grades K–3
Secondary School Planner—grades 4–6
Middle School Planner—grades 7–8
High School Planner—grades 9–12

Snap It Screen Capture 3.7 Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review Snap It Screen Capture v. 3.7 1 Click Software.

Here is a description of the product taken from their website:

It is a very convenient tool for bloggers. When you write posts on your blog you need to capture and crop images from different sources - this tool is for you.

- Supports hotkeys, auto-saving, clipboard

-Automatically copies screenshots to the clipboard

- Tracks capture history, auto-saves captured images

- Saves files in BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG and TIFF formats

- Auto-names captured images

Minimal system requirements:

Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/XP/2000/2003/Vista installed and configured on your system.

I have been using the software for about a week now and I have really enjoyed it. I can definately see where it would be a great timesaver. You can capture anything on your screen in 1 click. The set up and installation process is quick and easy. 3 simple steps and you are ready to go! In less than 15 minutes, I was using the product.

One of my favorite features is the auto-save option. So easy to crop, click, and save the shot you need. It would be very beneficial for those working on tutorials for their blogs and websites.

Here is a screen capture from my blog. It works well for a whole page or just capturing a region.

Visit their website to learn more about Snap It Screen Capture v3.7 or to Download and Install the program here.

You can try it for yourself for free and discover how easy it is to take a "snapshot" of anything --exactly what you need on your PC screen!
